So uh...hi.
[ a+ charlie bradbury. best start to a conversation ever. good job. ]
I'm starting to realize this might actually be the worst timing ever, what with the whole destruction of buildings and earthquake shenanigans and all that jazz, but the network's working again! Or like, un-glitch-afied. Again. And I've kind of been working on this for a while? So why not.
[ and now she smiles. big, look at how cute i am kind of thing. she's really cute guys love her. ]
I'm Charlie, by the way. [ vulcan salute hello. ] Been around for a little bit, just your average geek-without-her-tech. For all you crazy kids I haven't met, hi. For all you crazy kids I have met...hi also.
And yeah okay, everyone's probably going to be rebuilding and surviving and doing that thing we do when we want to not live in houses with holes in the ceiling... [ charlie looks up above her for a moment before sighing and shaking her head. ] But I kind of sort of noticed that a lot of us, when we're not hunting and fishing and generally being great awesome citizens-of-the-month, are bored. Like. Seriously, going kind of insane, bored.
I miss the internet. I know, I know, shock, but a lot of my life was on there for a really long time. I started LARPing a while ago and got really into that, but other than a select few thespian friends I've met, I can't see people really getting into the world of live action RPing. Thus I come to you, my dear, sweet Kore, with another option.
[ at this moment, charlie reaches down to the table in front of her, picking up what looks like a very large piece of paper with a map drawn into it. ]
Table top gaming. [ she says that like it carries a lot of weight, like there should be some applause backtrack going on in her life. if she had her laptop, she could be playing a nice little trumpet sound right about now, but instead? silence. she looks excited enough, so there's always that. ] Figured D&D is probably the most popular, so we could do a version of that. I'm probably gonna be the only DM around here, so depending on who all's interested I could change the game up, but for those of you who don't know- D&D is a table top role play game, or RPG. You make characters, with all these specifics that you peeps are so lucky because I've got that shit memorized, and they go on an adventure.
It's fun, it doesn't involve possibly going out into the dark and life-threatening forest, and it's social. [ ohhhhh, ahhhhhhh. ] We're all stuck here anyway, so might as well make the most of it, right? Right.
Drop your name if you're interested. Gotta gauge how popular this is before I actually get this crap organized. Oh also! If you find any more paper or like...drawing supplies. Collect 'em for me? I might be the master of memorizing kind of useless details, but even I've got a limit here.
And...yeah. Guess that's all I wanted to PSA at everyone. Charlie out.

[Ash had played a few games with a few of the younger hunters that had come through.]
Most of the symbols are painted in now, so no worry about them.

[ oh my god ellen you just made her whole life. ]

But game-wise it can be fun for a whole range of non-geeks and closeted-geeks. And it's not like we're doing much else with our free time.

[Jo's not worried in the least about hiding her interest -- Charlie's right. When they're not working, this place is pretty dull, and all work and no play makes everyone cranky.]
You'd have to teach me how to play from the ground up, but I'm a quick study. Mom already offered you the bar, right?
no subject
No that's cool- I kinda expected to teach everyone from the ground up anyhoo. We're gonna be changing up rules and things to make it less complicated anyway, so yeah.
[ she nods, and then just grins because okay this is getting to be a really cool list of people playing. ]
Yeah, she said we could use chalk on the tables, which would be really freaking helpful.

[Martha had never played D&D before. She had no idea what it was other than some game her kid brother played. But that was exactly why she needed to play it. She needed some sense of her brother. Something of home.]

[ Yeah, she saw Ellen's offer of the bar and the bar is hardly demon friendly. ]
You ever want to play Twister or Monopoly - you know where to find me. We can even make it Strip Twister if you prefer.
[ video - private ]
so the demon still scares the shit out of her. at least charlie's trying. ]
We could do- uh. Other games. Or like, other campaigns, private ones, somewhere else. [ a beat, and then in a smaller voice. ] Sorry.

I think I'd be rather worthless, from the sound of it, but there's a great deal of paper here in this house that you're welcome to.

Oh my gods, that would be amazing. Can I just come over and pick it up?

It might not be the most productive thing to be doing, but a part of Sam knows that going out of his mind from boredom isn't much better. ]
It'll be good to get everyone together every now and then when it's not just business. Good idea, Charlie. [ He offers up a smile. ] At least I won't have to worry about finding face paint for this adventure.
