[Video] Tony Stark | 001
[So, the feed will open to a very, very unimpressed face. Oh so very unimpressed. However, that face might be a little battered and bruised, maybe even slightly bleeding, but it's still obvious how undeniably unimpressed he is. After a moment of silent staring, his dark eyes narrow a fraction, adding mild agitation to the blasé expression. He is well aware this is some form of broadcast, and by the looks of it, it's an open feed, but he really doesn't care if he's making people uncomfortable. He's uncomfortable, and therefore, everyone else should be too.]
Really? No, I mean really? [He also might be a bit tightly wound. He's had a rough day. Understatement of the century, right there.] You should teach your goons not to aim for the face. It's my meal ticket. And honestly? I didn't expect to wake up in such nice accommodations. Actually, I was thinking more like a basement or a dungeon or even tied to a chair. But this is creative, I'll give you that.
[He pauses, thinking over the events and his current situation. It just doesn't seem to fit. This isn't AIM. The introduction said something about a Science Center in Cape Kore. He also sincerely doubts the evil twit has a reason to keep him alive. So, unless he's missing a chunk of time, he's just flat stumped. The injuries disprove the 'missing time' theory, however. So, back to posturing at his captor.]
And if you think this little flair of hospitality will make me any more cooperative, you have another thing coming, Killian. By the way, telling me not to escape will only make me try harder. [He gets ready to cut the feed, only to hesitate, brows knitted together in contemplation.] And P.P.S., this cell model is out of date. [Take that Aldrich! The feed is promptly cut thereafter.]

[Yes, he knows this from experience.]
Well. So far, counting you and me, I see six. But those are only the people who have kindly replied to me. I'm going to guess you haven't been here long either, right?
Okay, so, here's what I've learned so far. Killian's not behind this. Escape is... difficult at best. And no one's around but other captives. I might have a bit more insight if I could...
[He almost disappears from screen for a minute as he leans away from the camera, taking a good look around his room. This is probably his first actual look around. He doesn't seem to find whatever it is that he's looking for and returns to the mobile device.] What I really need right now is a tablet and an interface. Or JARVIS. I'm greedy, I want both. But until then, that's the best I've got. Where are you?
audio | omg i could hella go for some smores right now
A few minutes. [ Yours was the top post here, buddy. LUCKY YOU. And while he's got a handle on his own smartphone back home, this one isn't too terribly complicated but he's not exactly inclined to use it or anything else they provide here. ] I'm - [ He pauses a moment and steps outside, ignoring the way his skin crawls at the facility. Hospitals (or things like them, like this) are always a little unsettling, no matter the circumstances. Nothing good ever happens in them. ] A hallway. Everything seems to look the same. There are names here, though - I should be able to find you.
audio | Asdfj I'm sorry!
Wow. And I thought I was the noob here. [Well, he is, but he's been here a liiiiiiiiittle longer than Rogers. But on the mention of names, he seems to get up from wherever he'd been sitting and leans out his door, taking the phone with him.] Huh. Will you look at that? I don't know how I feel about this. I'm already starting to feel less like a prisoner and more like--no, scratch that, still a prisoner.
[He takes a glance down the hall in both directions to see if he can spot Steve yet, depending on how closer their rooms were.]
audio | sullenly eats takeout chinese instead
[ There's a little bit of dryness in his tone as he closes the door and takes note of his name on the placard. Unsettling.
He feels naked without the uniform - khakis and a shirt and jacket aren't exactly the best things to be wearing in unfamiliar territory like this and he doesn't have the shield anymore which means he's severely unimpressed. ]
They know all of our names, which means they likely knew enough to strike when we were vulnerable. [ Tony without his armor, Steve without his and the shield. ] All of these hallways look the same.
AUDIO (Ack, I'm dumb) | Almost as good, right?
Tony taps the phone against his palm several times in thought.]
Agreed. I wonder if there's a central rec room of sorts. Wandering about aimlessly in hopes of finding eachother will either A) get us both lost or B) we'll just keep walking in the wrong direction without some sort of guidelines to go by. Without an outside prospective, we have no idea how big this building even is.
[He brings the phone back up and looks down at the device, tabbing through the network, looking for any mention of locations.]
"When we were vulnerable"? [He repeats, giving Cap his full attention again.] What, did they nab you in your sleep? [Because, let's face it, Rogers is pretty badass even without his suit and shield. Tony? Well, he's just human. No super-strength, no super-healing, nothing. Well, aside from a genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist. But this isn't the time for that argument.]
nooo | nearly
[ He's got a decent sense of direction, sort of, but this place is fucking with it, with its hallways and twists and turns. He hopes he's going to be able to find the room they gave him, just in case he needs anything out of it. ]
There aren't any people here, that I can see or hear.
[ That's the unsettling part. Why take all of them but have no one to maintain the peace? There's a way out; if there's a way in there's a way out but this doesn't make any sense. Also, he's neatly avoiding that question, thanks. ]
Do you have anything on you?
You can totally make smores in the microwave if you've got the fixings handy
Well, even more reason for us to find eachother--I'm sitting out in the hallway, so you know. I can start singing, if that'd help your nerves any, but I doubt you'd like my music choices.
[He pauses at the question and looks down at himself.]
Uh. A hoodie and pants? [Probably not what Steve meant.] A limited edition Dora watch. Some dead guy's dog tags. Nothing immediately useful beyond the provided phone.
[But he did notice your avoidance. Normally, he'd be a pain in the ass and press the subject, but recent events have softened him, if only just slightly. So he lets it be for now, having his own subjects that lead to discomfort, now.]
i'm at work lMAO so not really
Probably not.
[ Your music taste leaves a little to be desired there, champ. Steve keeps on walking, taking note of hallways and doors and any names on them, trying to figure out if there's any sort of rhyme or reason to this nonsense. ]
Tell me that's not a souvenir.
[ Why do you have a dead guy's dog tags CHRIST TONY THAT'S SO TACKY. Steve heads down the next hall, trying different doors and hesitating at one. There's no noise for a moment, and then, ]
Maybe you should find me. I found a laboratory. It looks like there may be something you can use in here.
I'm sorry! (again) Maybe when you get home? ; ;
Your loss. [He shrugs indifferently. His music taste is amazing thank you very much! But he keeps working on the phone until the next statement makes him halt, looking momentarily confused.]
What? [He looks down a the Dora watch with an absolutely lost expression. What kind of taste did Rogers think he had?] It belongs to a little kid--his sister, actually. He was helping me out--oh, wait. The tags? No. Really Rogers? I'm working on a case and I have too much going on. It's evidence. Anyway,
[But he's rendered silent, the thought truncated in favour of Cap's words. Tony visibly perks up, looking down the hall and jumping to his feet from where he'd taken to sitting against the wall on the floor.]
See? Now that's useful! [But he still has no idea what direction to choose so,]
Eenie, meenie, miney, mo... [And he picks a direction then begins walking.]
In a hall full of living quarters, you find the laboratory. How is that even fair?
i'll have a pbj when i get home that's basically the same thing right ;n;
I can try and find something to write with. Leave a trail from the door down the hallway so we can trace it back.
[ There's a slight scuffling noise, metal clanging against metal as he starts searching, and a frustrated huff as he digs and digs and then, ah. There we go. ]
I think I'm out of the living quarters section, as it is. [ He probably ought to worry about whether or not whoever brought him here is gonna be pissed he's drawing a marker down the wall, but hey, maybe it'll draw them out. Steve starts walking again. ]
There are other rooms here, too. What's near you?
Absolutely! ; ; Actually... that sounds really good right now.
Proverbial breadcrumbs? Sure, have at it, Hansel. [That one shouldn't be too new for you to get, Steve.] As for me? So far, just rooms. And a corner. I don't see what the problem... [Stark rounds the corner and then he does see what the problem was. Where he could see only about eight rooms down on each side, this hallway really looked endless.]
[He sniffs and just stops for a moment.] That's some hallway. Someone needs to have a word with the guy who designed the floor plans of this place. The first floating candle I see, I'm seriously bailing.
[Then he continues moving down the hall, looking at the nameplates for anything interesting or useful.]
pbjs are fucking magical.
[ That's what he's stuck on. If this was Hydra, why aren't they lording it over them? If it's not Hydra, why take him and Tony and the others? None of this makes any sort of sense.
He ignores the references - one he does get, one he doesn't, and furrows his brow, drawing an arrow back that says LABORATORY and then keeps on moving. Other rooms he checks if they're open and notes their location for later, twisting around another corner. ]
Keep on walking. This place can't be that large.
Yes, they are.
If there's no one around to keep us in line, that usually means the place is secure enough that they don't actually need guards. And our chances of getting out are close to nil. [He wants to hear none of your lip about his pessimism because you, good sir, brought it out in the first place.]
You still got my video feed up? [He asks before directing the camera down the near endless hall.] Tell me again how this place can't be that large. Hold up. I just found something. Looks like... [He pushes the door open and looks around.] It's bigger than it looks, Cap. A lot bigger.
[He stares at the Atrium from the doorway, looking up at the several floors that seemed to exist. If that was anything to go by, and if they all had hallways like this one, well... this could get difficult.]
PBJ ACQUIRED LIFE IS GOOD
[ He's thinking along the same lines. That's...unsettling. Really, really unsettling, more so than the idea of being kidnapped. ]
If there's a way in, there's a way out, Stark.
[ None of your pessimism, sir, because they're going to figure this out. They have to. He has things he needs to do; they can't just leave everything as it is out there.
Steve's all set on the cautious optimism train (or well, the stubborn as shit train, as it may be) all the way until he sees the hall and the atrium. His stomach sinks and he goes very, very still a moment. ]
There's a way out.
[ It feels better to say it. He hesitates openly a moment, not sure if he even wants to ask this, but, ]
I didn't see any food, anywhere. I'm assuming they intend to feed us if they're keeping us here. If we find out where that comes from, that's a start.
Awesome! owo (How soon do you want them to meet up?)
[Steve isn't the only one with things to do. Before his kidnapping, Tony was actually doing something pretty important himself.
He's backed out of the Atrium, despite how he wants to look around, and continues back down the hall. Upon Cap's second repeat mantra, Tony actually feels a little guilty.]
I'm... sure you'll find it, Cap. [Look, he can be nice! Moreso lately than he used to. As for the food... yeah, that was a pretty important thing to figure out, too.]
You know, I didn't actually notice if we have little, like, mini-fridges in our rooms or anything. I didn't look. If they're going to lock us in a maze, they might as well make food an easy accommodation, right? [Nice try, Tony.] Or maybe there's a piece of cheese at the end of the hallway.
[When he finally reached another corner, he's immediately disoriented. Like someone just took his internal compass and spun it on him. Little did he know, the hallway he just left changed on him. This one was dark, ill-lit with inconsistent lighting.]
next tag?
[ He should have. Stupid, he should have - he checked for weapons, for anything his and took the phone and nothing else. Stupid. He knows better than that. Steve exhales, nearly a sigh of frustration and starts picking around, jiggling door handles to see if anything happens. ]
If the point is to keep us.
[ Which seems to be the indication, but he's not really sure at this point. Steve peeks down a hall, determines it's probably too short to be worthwhile and starts drawing in the other direction. He'll try to make a map, later, assuming he has paper to go with the pen. ]
The atrium seems like it would be in the center. Maybe you should go back, I can try and make my way there.
Sounds good to me!
Seems to me like a lot of trouble to go through if they plan on letting us just die. Why not kill us when they had us out?
[Upon the suggestion, Tony stops mid-step and turns back around. It sounded good enough to him and he didn't like this hallway anyway. He backtracks to turn the corner only to find it isn't the same hallway he just left.]
...Huston, we have a problem. [He turned back and looked down the dank hallway again, to see if maybe he turned down the wrong unending hallway, but nope. However, as he looked back again, he noticed something on the wall. It looked like marker--]
I think I found your chicken-scratches, Rogers.
no subject
[ Steve keeps on walking until he hears that, and pauses, glancing around. ]
What's wrong?
[ At least he found the markings. Steve turns back and starts following them, careful to note certain places and things he's seen, whether or not it's an empty room or a locked door, and makes his way back. ]
I'll meet you back there in a few minutes.
no subject
It also didn't take long before Cap came into view and Tony seemed visibly relieved. He'd been wondering if, perhaps, they weren't going to play this game for the rest of their time here. He raised a hand to wave and ended the video feed with the other. He picked up a bit of a jog until they were within speaking range.]
Cap'n. That was fun. Can we never do it again?
no subject
How badly are you injured?
[ Priorities, here, okay, Steve knows Tony's not a soldier but he wouldn't put it past him to be a wreck and still puttering around this place because he wants to know what's going on. Hell, that's what Steve'd do, but Steve's got the benefit of the serum and Tony doesn't. ]
no subject
Just bruised. Nothing broken. I'm good. More importantly, you're looking incredibly Casual Friday today...
[Tony might actually be frightened to know how well Rogers knows him. He only whines about his injuries when Pepper's doctoring them up. Any other time, he'll just keep going until he can't anymore.]
no subject
Getting kidnapped by unknown enemies wasn't exactly in my agenda so I didn't dress up.
[ Steve's eyes linger on him a moment more, searching for how he holds himself, any sign of anything being worse than what Tony's indicated and then deems it good enough for the moment, turning and walking. ]
You might find something in the lab.
no subject
Yeah, I tried to solve that whole 'expect the unexpected' problem thing too. [He motioned to his arm, displaying the tiny red track marks up each of them.] 48 micro computer implants to call the suit to me if I need it. Y'know, we might be able to use the same concept for your outfit.
[He's probably joking. Probably.]
After you. [With a flurry of one hand, he motioned for Rogers to take up the lead to the lab.] I'm sure I can MacGyver something up.
no subject
I'm guessing there's a maximum distance and we're outside of that here, aren't we.
[ Also he doesn't need his suit to fly at him, okay, that's a bit overkill.
Steve gives him one more dubious look and then starts off toward the lab, following the arrows with a furrowed brow. ] I was going to try and draw a map of the halls, but I'd need to go through the whole facility and I'm not sure that's even worth the time it'd take.
[ BECAUSE THEY'RE GONNA BREAK OUT!! ]
no subject
Huh. Guess there is a maximum distance. Or a short in the microchips. But yes, map. Probably a good idea, but right now, let's get situated.
[Overkill or not, it's totally awesome overkill and you have to admit that, Cap. Also, yes totally gonna break out. He has no doubt because with Cap's stubborn need to save people and Tony's... well. His just stubborn need to rebel, how can they fail?]
