[Action] Arrival post

[Threads in this post take place at (or at least start at) the center of town around the fountain. If you would like to address the network or have your character wake up somewhere else, feel free to make your own post in the appropriate community.

In this post, please feel free to have characters jump around. The cameras are everywhere, but not everyone can listen in on comms. And are you kidding? I was Director of SHIELD years ago. I gave it up when Fury came back. [Why does everyone always forget that?]

[She sighs.] Did Peggy Carter exist in your universe? Steve Rogers?

Both of them, yes, and Fury, but I have no idea who you are.

[If anyone would take over in Fury's absence, it would be Hill.]

We're jumping straight to different universes? I kind of liked my theory that you're crazy, but I guess I can take a leap

[Her lips twist into something that could be considered a grin by people who know her well, though a dark one.] I've experienced them before, along with the Avengers. You could make the case that someone's gone through and wiped our memories of each other, but Logan still remembers me, and I still remember him, Steve, and you. Which means it had to have been selective. We can work out who would take the time and trouble to do that and why later, but for now, I suggest we get SHIELD and the Avengers together and track down whoever's controlling the cameras. I've made sure some of the houses are clear. [She points to the five or six she's cleared.] We can put the civilians in there while we work, in case there's crossfire.

[She faces him again, though she had never completely turned away. She'd been teased about paranoia, but she's dealing with a SHIELD agent who - best case scenario - is from another universe and hasn't merely been conditioned by Faustus. Her eyes flick to the top of his head.] You had less hair where I'm from.

When we make sure the civilians are safe, you can grill me to your heart's content.

[Though, as a SHIELD agent herself, she's not sure how much good that will do. She's been interrogated before, even tortured. She's actually curious what interrogation techniques Phil's SHIELD taught him.]

Less hair? Do you have a second Barton running around? You know he's the reason my hairline is receding, right?

[His face sobers up. Alright, he'll go with this for now. Keeping everyone safe and figuring out what's going on really is priority here.]

I saw Banner somewhere. Barton and Romanoff are here, although she didn't know who I was the first time I approached her [He says it like it's a personal affront.] and then she slapped me when she did, but I guess I deserved it.

Also Barton's out for a few hours. He was brainwashed by Loki, so I had to... fix it.

Clint got brainwashed by Loki?

[Shit. Shit shit shit.]

Is Loki here? Or Kang?

[Impatient, she shakes her head.] People first. Talk later. [Right. And then she hesitates.] I've been running undercover or covert missions for the past few years. If we can't find Fury... [Spit it out, Sharon. No telling how much time they have.] If it comes to it, I'll follow your orders. Within reason.

[But she won't necessarily like it. She hopes he knows that. It's just that she can't bring herself to follow Steve, and if SHIELD ever needed a chain of command, that was now.]

[Plus, better he be in control - or the semblance thereof - than her. She isn't diplomatic enough to put up with everything that she suspects will follow.]

I haven't seen Loki and I have no idea who Kang is, but Barton is fine. I probably gave him some minor head trauma, but that's nothing new.

[He just gives her a confused look.]

You said you ran SHIELD. I don't really think it's you who should be taking orders from me, do you?

We'll figure this out. Let's just get everyone on the same page for now.

[She nods, relieved on both counts. Clint had suffered minor head wounds before. He'd survive again.]

That was years ago, before Fury was in that pocket dimension.

[She nods.] I'll keep securing houses so we can get people off the streets, and I'll keep my eyes open for places to put people in case of any sort of attack. Logan scouted around the houses and said he hadn't found any sign of anyone, so those should be safe. A woman named Dr. Barrett was checking the perimeter.

I have no idea who Logan is, either.

[And he's not going to start on the pocket dimension.]

I'm going to keep my eye out for Loki. I was about to fight him before I woke up here.

[Skipping over the part where Nat claims that he died.]

John Logan. Wolverine. [That ought to explain things well enough. Everyone knew who Wolverine was.]

[She watches him for a few seconds.] Mutant?

Big claws that come out of his fists?

[She holds up a clenched fist and uses three fingers of her other hand to show how the claws would go.]

I understand exactly none of that, so either you really are crazy or I am going to start buying this whole different universe thing you're selling.

[He's really hoping that she's not crazy, because whatever is going on is confusing enough.]

You seem to know everyone I know. Time travel?

[She hoped he bought the alternate universe scheme. Things were going to be harder if he thought she was crazy and didn't trust her. She didn't like having to go against her own people to accomplish a mission.]

It's 2011 where I'm from. You?

[Well, that ruled out her being from the future.]

2012 and our stories are definitely not meshing.

[She rubs the bridge of her nose.]

Charles Xavier. Magneto. Thanos. Red Skull. Baron Blood. Jasper Sitwell. Maria Hill. Dr. Faustus. Cyclops. Electro. The Melder.

Does any of that sound familiar?

[He nods.]

I know Jasper and Hill's Deputy Director under Fury. We've got Red Skull, too. Or we did, at least. He's been dead a while.

[So he knows of them, but... not like she does. That should be obvious.]

How long has the Skull been dead where you're from?

[And was it possible that he was actually dead in some universe? It... it actually sounded like a nice place to be. No Skull. No Faustus, either, from the sound of it.]

No one's see him since the war. Hiding Nazis is one thing, but hiding him's a little hard on account of his staggeringly ugly face.

[Phil shrugs. The likelihood of Schmidt being alive is so slim it's not really worth entertaining.]

Did he still have that obsession with the Cosmic Cube?

You mean the Tesseract? Yes and just recently Loki stole it. That was kind of what we were fighting him over.

[Sharon is silent for several seconds before nodding. She knew the Skull had been trapped in the Cube, knew that even Steve had been trapped there before, reliving an idealized version of his own life. Has the Skull come back and trapped them in the Cube? And why would he choose people from different universes?]

Understood. Can we meet again tonight after we get these people situated?

Absolutely. I should be in the house closest to the lighthouse. It's where Barton is sleeping off my hitting him. Stop by or call me on this thing.

[He holds up his wrist.]

[Sharon nods.] I'll see you tonight, then.

[She heads off, speaking to people here and there and encouraging them to get settled for now so everyone can get organized and find a way out.]
