[The video swings wildly up and down. Have some sky. Now some ballet flats. A flash of plaid and then sky again.]

Guys?

[The video stills as Annie peers at the device on her wrist.]

Is this an Inspector Space Time thing? Remember what I said about warning me when we were pretending outside of the Dreamatorium? I need advance notice. I have a test, I can't... [She rolls her eyes, realizing that if they've gone to this much trouble, it's inescapable.]

[She sighs, pursing her lips before taking a deep breath and talking animatedly, her eyes wide.]

Oi, Goven'r, this is Constable Geneva on Cape Kore requiring immediate extraction. Blimey, there are blorgons everywhere! [She glances around, her face falling momentarily.] And a test worth 25% of my grade on the morn! Hurry, Inspector! Constable Reggie!

[She pauses, furrowing her brow.] Anyone?

[Okay, she's definitely beginning to get freaked out now. Kidnapping was one thing. Prison was something else entirely. Prison was where she was bound if she hadn't gotten her Adderall addiction under control. Not that she thinks he literally means prison but the fact he brought it up at all...it doesn't sit well.]

Why would they do that? I'm just a Community college student! What possible scientific interest could I be? I have a test tomorrow!

[Bruce winces and tilts his head.] I've actually got a theory about that. Experiments need controls, right?

[Probably not the most comforting thing to say. Get it together, Banner. She's freaking out.]

We're doing the best we can. There are a lot of smart people and, failing that, really strong people who're trying to get us out of here. The important thing is to try to stay calm and rational.

[She lets out a small huff of air, her mouth opening the tiniest bit in shock. Wow. She's not sure if she's more shocked at his statement and what it implies or the way he said it.

She stares at the screen for a long moment and then lets out the most ridiculous yell and/or scream that any nearby animals have probably ever heard.

She lets out a shaky breath and then seems to pull herself together. Her voice is her adult voice.]

Okay. I'm sorry. You were saying?

[Her face is warming, but she's not about to acknowledge the fact that it just went south like that.] We have to stay calm and rational about being locked up and experimented on?

[Whoops. Oh well. He could do that gentler, but there's no good way to spin this. The food isn't even all that great. He waits patiently while she screams, his eyebrows going up only because his ears weren't quite prepared. Good for her. When she's done, he's pursing his lips and nodding. He's impressed!]

Pretty much. Like I said, I've been here for about a month, and it's only possible to sustain freaking out for so long. You have to work around to the rational side if you want to get anything done. Which we are trying to do.

I'm a doctor and a physicist, as well as... I'm good in a fight, like a few other people here. You might call them... superheroes. We're working on it.

[Okay, well, he takes that little reaction in stride and he seems pretty matter of fact about things. Matter of fact is something she can get behind. As much as she tends to sugar coat things for other people, she prefers honesty herself.]

Superheroes?

[A line of doubt settles along her forehead as she looks back at him. Being rational was one thing, but in her experience it doesn't exactly go hand in hand with superheroes. Okay, well, unless it's Abed. Somehow he's logic and imagination wrapped up all in one.]

Don't tell me you're trying to find a way to kickpunch out of this place.

[ Yeah, superheroes. He gives a yeah, I know shrug and assumes she'll see for herself soon enough. ]

Yeah... We tried that one. It didn't work out so well.

[She nods slowly.]

Okay, well, I guess if anyone's going to find a way out of here it would be a doctor slash physicist and some superheroes.

[That might be a tad too cheerful, but he's been pretty nice so far and she doesn't want to get off on the wrong foot. Even if she's quickly coming to the conclusion that they're all doomed.]

We could do worse.

[ They probably are all doomed. It's okay. Pessimists don't make good greeters, really. ]

We definitely could. I'm sorry this is basically one bad piece of news after another. One good thing about this place is that the people I've met have in general been really nice and strangely accommodating. There's a good atmosphere of sticking together. You won't feel alone here.
