[ It doesn't take long for Raven to figure out how to get the communicator on. It does take her a little longer to decide whether or not she wants to actually do anything with that information, though. When the feed switches on she's sitting comfortably at the edge of the fountain, although the expression on her face is anything but entertained. ]

When I said no, I meant no. I don't know where all this... [ the feed jumps about a bit as she rotates her wrist, but it comes back to normal after a moment or two. ] technology has come from, or why you'd bother disguising it, but it's not happening. I'm not interested.

[ And then she frowns and folds one leg over the other, gaze dropping from the communicator to somewhere to the left of her. She's had enough of talking to the device on her wrist it seems, because after a moment or two the video flips and it becomes apparent that she's stood up and has started to walk through the town.

It lasts a moment longer before her wrist bumps her leg and it cuts out. ]

So you're a part of all this then? [ Just gonna go ahead and peer at the communicator again. Have a fantastic close up of a very unimpressed face. ]

What's the angle bringing me here, then? Separation, pick us off one by one?

[Introductions out of the way, good. Her words interest him.]

I realise you've just arrived, or so it seems to me, but if you have a theory about the reasons we might be here, I would like to hear it.

[ She hadn't actually considered the possibility that other people might be kept here too, and she pauses a moment before continuing. ]

Are you a mutant too?

[ River turns a corner and stops in place before rushing forward and rushing Raven into a hug.

No words. No sounds. No warning. Just sudden hugs from some random teenager Raven has never laid eyes on before.

That has to be...something. ]

[ The last thing she expects when she's wandering down the street is a sudden onslaught of hugs, and for a moment she just freezes. Eventually she goes from utterly still to worming an arm free, and when she gets that arm free she hesitates a moment before gently (and rather awkwardly) patting River's head.

Sorry, she just really doesn't know how to deal with random hugs. ]

Can I...help you at all?

[ If she sounds pretty confused, that'll be because...well, she really is. Who is this random girl, and why has she decided to launch herself at Raven of all people? ]

[ Muffled: ] Hi.

[ And then, eventually, letting go of Raven but River is just so excited that she doesn't know what to do with the energy other than spinning place. ]

You could. Maybe! Don't know. Not certain, nothing is...

And where is being interested going to get me, exactly?

I was working on the assumption that most people don't enjoy being bored out of their skulls, but hey, if you just hate fun, don't let me get in the way. By all means, sit around watching paint dry. Who am I to tell you not to?

[ Despite everything - the arguments and the cold creeping into their relationship, despite how he doesn't quite know what he's doing around her anymore, how he is almost certain she despises everything he puts her through no matter how well intentioned - there is still this rush of relief that has Charles' own video jumping as he rises. ]

Where are you? I'll come find you. Don't -- [ Don't wander off is what he wants to say but how can he explain the near clawing panic as anything that wouldn't be read as a command. ] Just stay where you are please?

Charles?

[ It's amazing how fast the bravado wears off when she hears his voice. In an instant she goes from stern tones and puffed chest to quiet and maybe a little bit scared. She's still trying not to show it, her words are still delivered in the same firm, short way as before. It's hard to miss the slight shake though, and it's definitely not hard to miss the slight tremor in the video as she holds the communicator up again. ]

It's you, it's really you? What happened, how did we get here? [ Clearly someone didn't pay attention to the spiel given when she woke up, she barely heard a word of it. ] Is it Shaw?

[ Onslaught of questions aside, it's clear from the feed that she has stopped walking. She's still in the main section of the town, and when she looks around there's a brief glimpse of the fountain still in the background. ] I'll - okay. I'll stay here. Are you close by?

It's not Shaw.

[ Charles doesn't even bother with a coat, just broadcasts his intent to Erik and practically flings himself out of the front door. It's a little difficult to navigate with clothes that have to be tucked up and unravel just as fast but he doesn't care. If anyone can understand Raven's mood it's Charles - he's known her very strong heart since the moment they met and the feeling inside him now is just the very same frantic urge to protect.

He has been so worried about her. ]

It's rather difficult to explain. [ His voice comes out in a puff of air as he moves. ] I'll be able to once I settle my thoughts. I'd just prefer getting to you first.

[ Because even if they argued the night before they went after Shaw - she is his sister and his lifeline and there is nothing that would keep him from her. ]

[ Good thing River already broke this news or she'd be freaking out right now. As it is she just positively beams at him. ]

Would you look who the cat dragged in. Good to see you, Darwin.

[ Just ignore the slightly shiny eyes if you would, Darwin, she's totally not welling up she just got sand in her eyes. ]

[While Ivy's still settling, she hasn't been going far from the park, but there's nonetheless a need for her to understand the broader layout of the town and get some idea of its inhabitants even though she's not too eager to talk to them.

She doesn't know the blonde girl - hasn't checked her wristband for a while - but that's not much surprise. Still, she has the slightly disoriented look Ivy wouldn't associate with an earlier arrival.]

[ Disoriented isn't the half of it. She gazes around blankly as she walks down the street, looking intently for some kind of familiar sight, something that indicates that she might know where she is.

Surprise surprise, there's nothing.

Even more surprising is when someone actually addresses her, and in a moment before she gets her brave face back again, she looks incredibly shocked to see someone else. ]

Looking? No. Not for something, anyway. Looking in general, I suppose. Did I bother you?
