Is everyone OK. Clinic made it through OK. If you need a doctor, let me know where you are. I'll be there as soon as I possibly can. Also, be careful of aftershocks.

Action

[Martha had been in the clinic when the earthquake came. Once she realized what actually was happening, she braced herself under a door frame until the shocks were over.]

[Once they were over, she put out the message about help and packed her medkit. She began making her way through the town, looking for those she could help.]

[Balthazar appears on the screen with lines of static rippling across his upper chest. He looks in good enough health and spirits, at least, but serious.] Hello, Kore. I'll be quick to the point since the communicators are squirrelly these days.

One: I assume we're all avoiding the ocean inasmuch as possible. Are people still fishing, and if so, where? If not, how is that affecting food stores? Anyone in need?

[The image distorts and gets swallowed up in white noise for a moment, a few words cut off.] ---ouple pounds of purslane and dandelion greens and picked another crop of radishes; I'm happy to make trades. I've also caught something that looks like a rabbit with tusks. It's up for grabs, because the hell if I'm going to skin and gut it myself.

Two: Given the way conditions are deteriorating, I'm wondering if we ought to initiate some sort of buddy system. Pairs, trios, small groups to look out for one another?

What is the point...?

Every step forard becomes another leap behind.

There is no food. Or not enough to go around.

There is a monster in the water that they can't keep in check.

The guess is: the captors are gone.

The experiment has gone awry.

And we remain.

[After prodding unhelpfully at the device fastened to her wrist, Emma frowns. A message saying she couldn’t leave wasn’t something she was entirely comfortable with. Even if it was currently broadcasting she had nothing to fear about others. Boldly she held her hand away from her body, slipping into her diamond form regardless of the recording. She tried to shake the device loose. Nothing happened, it wasn’t exactly painful it just wasn’t convenient.

She slips back into her normal form, lifting the device to eye level and putting on her best sympathetic smile of a face.
]

Good afternoon, fellow townspeople. My name is Emma Frost, and why its just a pleasure to be here. [There’s a small twitch in her facial expression, as if she were going to laugh.]

Someone be a dear and direct me to whoever’s in charge? I think I need to have a good old fashioned sit down, obviously someone’s made a mistake.

[She stares into the screen with what would probably be seen as quite a cold smile. She definitely had some things to do, people to meet. Factions to establish.]

Oh, and if you can't find me someone in a position of power? I'd love a glass of wine to help me get my head around things.

[She wasn't even particularly bothered, considering the fact that she'd been lifted straight out of a cell. From one confine to another, and she'd adapt to this new way of living.]

[The video feed starts and quickly travels up over an unathletic naked torso before landing on Dirk's face. By the background of the shot, it's easy to figure that he's in his bedroom and has just woken up. His eyes are unfocused, his hair ever wilder than usual, and his breath coming in quick breaths that suggest he's calming himself down from a panic.]

People of Cape Kore... [He clears his throat and blinks a few times, seeming to come more awake as he does.] I'm am fairly certain that I have experienced an episode of narcoleptic clairvoyance.

[In his dream, he is on the beach, staring out at the sea. Without warning or preparation, he's underwater, a mute and helpless observer to the fresh scene presented to him. Through the murky distance, the tentacled arm of some great sea monster wraps around a flailing body and pulls it away out of sight. He's left standing on the beach once more, seeing nothing but the waves.]

As some of you know, I have a...facility for predicting the future in my sleep. I have seen...a kraken. Taking...I don't know whom. Someone. I don't think the ocean is safe now or in the near future.

[He drags a hand over his face, and his voice loses most of it's previous adamant intensity.] There is the possibility that I have been eating entirely too much fish. But I assure you that this vision felt very real.

[Dilandau appears on screen, looking better than he has for weeks. The bruises on his face have vanished and the pained, angry lines that had started to develop on his forehead have smoothed away completely. He's confident and eager in a way he hasn't been since planning the breakout.]

If any of you were sensible, you'd have gone to visit Mayor Stane to see the paper he obtained. It confirms what I suspected, that we've been kidnapped from our realities by these Sorc- scientists to provide military advantage. We'll either be soldiers or we'll be the blueprints for them to alter their own soldiers.

They know more about us than we know about each other. While we're working to feed ourselves they're watching us and deciding whose abilities will suit their needs. People come and people disappear and they must have vanished for a reason: either they were useless or they were exactly what the Sorcerers needed.

Has anyone kept lists of who vanished? Do you know the powers or the history of those who vanished? There'll be a pattern in there somewhere, if they're working with any sense. If we can see the pattern, we'll know who's likely to vanish next. We can prepare.

[He falls silent for a moment before leaning back and curling his mouth into his usual, cocky smirk]

And speaking of abilities, if any of you have a sword, bring it to the grassy area south of the town. I need sparring partners who can keep up with me.

[ It doesn't take long for Raven to figure out how to get the communicator on. It does take her a little longer to decide whether or not she wants to actually do anything with that information, though. When the feed switches on she's sitting comfortably at the edge of the fountain, although the expression on her face is anything but entertained. ]

When I said no, I meant no. I don't know where all this... [ the feed jumps about a bit as she rotates her wrist, but it comes back to normal after a moment or two. ] technology has come from, or why you'd bother disguising it, but it's not happening. I'm not interested.

[ And then she frowns and folds one leg over the other, gaze dropping from the communicator to somewhere to the left of her. She's had enough of talking to the device on her wrist it seems, because after a moment or two the video flips and it becomes apparent that she's stood up and has started to walk through the town.

It lasts a moment longer before her wrist bumps her leg and it cuts out.
