I've got two problems. Other than being here. [ And other than the other problems ]

So everyone keeps talking about how we don't have much food, and that we'll end up being cannibals, but no one is saying anything about actually getting more food.

[ Does that worry no one? Is she the only one with priorities? Until she asks she'd probably think yes. So she's asked ]

I for one am not eating anyone. [ Not unless you're- Okay. She probably wouldn't- definitely wouldn't go cannibal on even the hottest guy ] And even if people died we'd still run out. [ And she wasn't advocating killing anyone either just pointing it out ]

So. Is anyone else even concerned? [ Bring your explanations and plans and everything she's not yet been told minus the food scare ]

Second. For everyone who says I've been here before? That wasn't me. That was some other me. [ She's totally going with Veronica's explanation thank you Veronica ] But. [ For the ever curious: ] I want to know what you know. About me- other me. Preferably now.

I didn't know the other you, so I can't help you there, but as for the food, the situation's not so dire. [ He offers a small smile, because the last thing any of them need right now is some new person getting everyone worked up into a panic. Panic about the food situation is bad and could devolve into violence very quickly; it certainly has in the past ] I wouldn't go uncorking the chianti just yet.

[ Okay... maybe she won't get that reference, but oh well ] Quite a few people go into the woods and hunt regularly. Some of the rest of us have been working on planting things - fruit, vegetables, you get the drill. There are plans for a greenhouse. So - don't freak out, okay? We're not just sitting here doing nothing.

I wasn't freaking out. [ It certainly wasn't her freaked out voice but it was a worrying situation. Although she's not quite satisfied or confident than the situation is good ]

Fine. You're doing. But how much is there? And what about when it runs out and nothing has grown, or if you couldn't kill something that day? [ She's just... expressing all the options? Covering all bases. No one is starving ]

There's a man in charge of the remaining supplies, he's been rationing them pretty well so far. If you've got an issue with that, he's the one you need to talk to. [ Ned is being helpful, of course, but there's just the tiniest hint of impatience in that reply. Blame it on the stress inherent in the situation. ]

If you feel like making yourself useful, you could always help out with the gardening. It's okay if you don't know anything about it, we could always use a pair of extra hands. [ It's an invitation, but also something like the more polite version of a challenge: it's a lot easier to complain and question than it is to contribute ] We already have some things growing in. The process was, ah. Accelerated. Due to. Unusual circumstances.

The only food shortage is the stuff that comes pre-packaged. And maybe fresh veggies and fruit, but there's people working to fix that, so it won't get to a cannibalism scenario. There's game in the woods, fish to catch, and people with foraging skills can grab nuts, roots, and other vegetation to keep us going.

But I would kill for a milkshake and some cheesecake.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I've been hunting and fishing since I was capable of walking. I think I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing. [Would Lydia like a fresh fish dinner? Riley was thinking of heading out and catching a few for the evening.]

[ Erik would be better at this, he'd know how to explain the plans they have for growing their own food. He might even be pleased with her reaction in some ways - he knows how he feels about the way the people here are blind to what little they have - but he's not sure if she's someone who would even catch his attention in the first place.

So it's why he's here. Besides, he's worried. ] Have you eaten since you arrived, Lydia? If not I have to simply insist you come over and let me fix you something up.

[ OH it's trust guy again. Hi. At least he isn't trying to placate her with a reassurance of their food without answering her question?

Not that he answered her question but... okay, food does sound good. No she has not eaten, not what she would consider food (or an actual meal, anyway - berries were... not that). So she is actually replying without really any argument, and less of 'everything' that she gave him last time.

But still some questioning ] What are the options? [ Feel free to interpret that as meal choice or if she has a choice on him cooking ]

Dubious looking cans of vegetation. [ He smiles a little, gentle as anything. It's a joke, or it's trying to be. ] Everything that my ten year old self would have balked at. But if you'd let me I could heat something up for you.

[ There's a shortage surely, but to see someone actively not eating would be terrible and he thinks all of her bristling attitude is hiding a further vulnerability. ]

I've heard there are people hunting from the woods, and I've spoken with somebody who's part of a gardening project, so there are definitely efforts being made already. We're also next to the ocean and I know some people have been fishing successfully. I'm not sure I'd listen to anyone who tells you we're going to resort to cannibalism, because under the circumstances that seems alarmist.

Successfully. How successfully? I don't even know how many people there are.

I haven't taken a head count, but the last person I met who'd been fishing had enough for herself and her friends that she was giving away the extra.

I think the escape attempt may have derailed some plans, but I have three or four dozen plants coming up in the garden by House 11. It's only been a week since I planted, so they won't be edible for a while, but it's something.

There are people hunting and fishing, as well, and I did have plans to look for edible plants and herbs with Raphael. [Plans that may have been delayed due to being struck blind in the barrier breach.]

I'm sure we're open to other suggestions, if you have any.
