Day 90; Video 003

[bostonhowler]

[The breeze pushes her heavy hair behind her. She takes a deep breath and then puts a smile on for the camera. It's tentative, but there.]

I owe apologies. Quite a few of them. Riley, Charlie, St. Raphael, Derek....

[She pauses.]

Dilandau.

I had some personal trouble recently and lashed out at those that didn't deserve it. I apologize for not being able to keep my temper and for not explaining anything.

[Another pause.]

And for still not explaining anything.

I just... Please accept my apology. For those that don't wish to, [Dilandau] I understand.

I'm going to be staying at the lighthouse a bit, I think. I need the perspective and if something happens again, there won't be anyone to take the brunt of it. Except some seagulls, but they're usually pretty forgiving.

Yeah, my mom might have had something to say about me doing that. That or she would have been the one shoving it up their nose. You can never tell with her.

[It's part of why she loved her so much. She could be a total hardass with all of them, but she had those moments that reminded Riley that she was more than just a mom, that she hadn't always been one and that she could be sassy when she wanted.]

Really? Hah. Serves him right.

[bostonhowler]

The Alpha runs a pretty tight ship. He doesn't put up with things like that.

[She loves her Alpha. She does. There's just something... not right.]

It really, really did. I don't think he knew who am I, but it's hilarious watching them get taken down a peg.

I'll stick with being ruled by my parents. [When she knew she could get away with most of her crap.]

[bostonhowler]

Having an Alpha isn't so bad. It's like having an extra parent is all. Just... mine's pretty strict.

[Brigid shrugs. She waves toward the woods.]

And you saw how I was without one.

[undomesticated]

[Again, one of the reasons she was glad she'd been born what she was instead of what Brigid was. She had a feeling that after her little time away from her family, she would have been the one to choose to go out on her own. Having to have to be around them for her own sanity would have chafed at her far too much.]

Mm, yeah. Well, then I guess it's a good thing one came along, huh? I mean, as long as he's willing to keep an eye on you.

[bostonhowler]

[She sighs.]

It's possible that St. Raphael could do it. Maybe. It's a matter of dominance, I think. The wolf needs someone to submit to, or someone to rule, for lack of a better term. Without either, it gets lost and... almost becomes rabid.

[Brigid smiles slightly.]

He moved into the lighthouse with me. That says something.

[undomesticated]

Yeah? Is he as grumpy in person as he is over the network?

[Because he'd been pretty grumpy over the network...]

[bostonhowler]

He's quiet. I tend not to disturb him. Derek's not so bad.

[undomesticated]

I should maybe look at saying hi. I mean, face to face. I might be better if he, um, figured out what flavor I am before he runs into me at a different time.

[bostonhowler]

[Brigid fidgets.]

I told him there was a shifter here that turned into a cat. He shouldn't be that surprised.

[She looks up.]

I wouldn't have, but he's an Alpha, and I can't keep secrets from him.

[undomesticated]

Oh, well, good. No, I mean, that's okay. I'd rather he find out sooner than later, since I don't know what a surprised and pissed Alpha might do.

[bostonhowler]

[Brigid relaxes a bit.]

They generally don't take well to certain surprises. But as long as you don't mean us any harm, I doubt he'll say anything.

[undomesticated]

I'm generally not a very harmful person.

[Barring that little forest skirmish, but she'd felt provoked during that and turning her back hadn't been an option. But she generally wasn't one to initiate anything.]

[bostonhowler]

[Brigid bumps their shoulders together.]

Unless a wolf gets out of sorts, huh?

[undomesticated]

[She grinned, looking sideways at Brigid.]

Yeah, unless something like that happens. We are what we are, right?

[bostonhowler]

[That brings out a true smile.]

I wouldn't want to be anything else. I was without my senses for a few days. I do not know how humans do it. It made me paranoid.

[undomesticated]

There are definite ups and downs to it, like having to deal with the people that marinade in cologne or perfume, but I'd rather have to deal with that than go around nose blind.

[bostonhowler]

[She wrinkles her nose.]

It was my ears I missed more. I'm so used to being stuffed up because of other people, but my ears? Those are so important.

[undomesticated]

Ears, nose, general senses. I'm glad I have them. I can't even imagine what it would be like to just be... human.

[bostonhowler]

I jumped at everything and was constantly sure I was missing something.

[She sighs and shakes her head.]

Hopefully, this place doesn't do that again.

[undomesticated]

I was lucky during the last, um... problem? I didn't have anything happen. I'm actually a little afraid to see what comes next.

[bostonhowler]

Yeah. I set the docks on fire.

[She waves to where the docks lean drunkenly in the waves.]

[undomesticated]

Yeah? Were you that fiery thing I saw?

[She hadn't been able to place who was what entirely yet.]

[bostonhowler]

That was me, unfortunately. Luckily the only thing I set on fire was the docks. Dilandau still hates me for it, though.

[She doesn't know why either.]

Considering the alternative? I think singeing the dock is the lesser evil there.
