chapter one | video | day 93
[ The feed turns on to display a particularly worried-looking blonde woman, frowning more like an annoyed mother than anything. ]
You know, I'm getting major All Hell Breaks Loose flashbacks right now. Waking up in a creepy abandoned town with a bunch of people I presumably don't know? Yeah. I have a feeling this won't end well. I mean, unless the Winchesters are here by some off chance. And then...
Well, honestly, things might end worse. As much as I love them — [ she sighs wistfully, smiling to herself at the thought of her boys, then quickly returns to a slightly more concerned expression ] — they aren't exactly the best good luck charms. Even when they had a good luck charm.
[ She leans in closer, holding her hand at the side of her mouth, lowering her voice as if she's admitting a secret, though she looks particularly excited to be sharing this not-so-secret. ]
One of my favorites, by the way, Bad Day at Black Rock.
[ And then the big thing occurs to her and she frowns again. ]
I just hope there aren't demons involved. Sam didn't exactly let me keep the demon slaying knife as a souvenir for ganking my first black-eyed SOB. All he gave me was a big fat annulment and a broken heart...
[ She sighs, resigned. Nothing she can do about that now, and there's not really any point in making a big deal out of her predicament here. It's not like she has anyone back home who will miss her. Except maybe her Twitter followers. But even then... She shrugs, then offers something resembling a smile. ]
Well, at least I still have my journal. Maybe now I can get to work on that fanfic I've been meaning to write...

Well, at least I still have my journal. Maybe now I can get to work on that fanfic I've been meaning to write...
video;
[ ...hanging around Gabriel may or may not be a good thing. ]
video;
[ Chuck's eyebrows furrow together. Did... did he just get called a house plant? By an archangel? ]
No, that's--that's not the point.
video;
It's my point.
video;
[ Which, let's be real, is the only point that really matters. ]
video;
[ Raphael is of a different opinion. ]
video;
video;
[ Way more implications to that than what he means to show. ]
And why do you think it was me intervening before Zachariah?
video;
He knows he can't say anything about it, not as a prophet to an archangel, and so he lets the comment slide, despite the inaccuracies in his statement. Instead, he address Raphael's other statement, about intervening. ]
...what?
video;
Not that he's enjoying it - it's frightening, scary, and he doesn't really know what he's doing. Nor does he want to be in this situation. But he is, and he's the most equipped, and that means he needs to get Michael back. But he can't show that fear. ]
I watched over you. Long before the Winchesters found you. But you proved you needed a more direct watching, and I had other duties. So I delegated.
video;
Wait, so... you knew I was a prophet?
[ Okay, that was a stupid question. Of course the angels were going to know who the prophets were. ]
I mean... why didn't... you could have told me.
video;
You saw what Castiel told Dean, did you not? We know every one of you.
[ Yes Chuck, it really was. ]
We did tell you.
[ It's mostly flat, with a slight upturn at the end of the sentence. He might be serious, or he might be being sarcastic, but his head is slightly cocked, one brow lifted and knitted, a faint twitch at the corner of his mouth.
Sarcastic might be the best guess. ]
video;
Yeah, but...
I mean... would you have told me if Sam and Dean hadn't confronted me?
[ He has a feeling that answer is no. ]
video;
Had we not wanted the Winchesters to find you, they wouldn't have. Had we not wanted you to know, you wouldn't have.
[ All part of their plan. ]
video;
Chuck gives a slow nod. Because that does make sense. He had a vision of Sam and Dean at his house, and he had a vision of Castiel telling Dean that he was a prophet. He guesses he wouldn't have gotten those visions if that wasn't what was supposed to happen.
But, well. He'd been given false visions before. And there had been times where things had happen that he hadn't seen. So the visions weren't a 100% foolproof map of the future. ]
Yeah, but... I mean, my visions weren't always... you know, accurate? I mean, Castiel changed the future, with the last seal. I didn't see what he really did.
[ Castiel, you'll notice he said. Not Dean. ]
video;
Well. Castiel is a bit of a problem child.
[ Not that he really cared about that part. ]
video;
Yeah, but... Castiel helped save the world.
[ Which, you know. Is a pretty good thing, as far as Chuck is concerned. ]
video;
What does it feel like, to see something that's almost empathy, almost warmth there, then that countenance twisted into something cruel, capable of inflicting pain, capable of enjoying it? To see a predatory flash in those eyes, the faint twitch of a smirk lacking warmth and kindness? ]
Is that what you think he did?
video;
...well, who knows what? ]
Uh... yes?
Re: video;
Try again.
video;
But... the world's still there.
video;
A brain dead person with machines breathing for them and shocking their heart into beating is still there as well.
video;
[ At least, he doesn't think so. ]
video;
[ It's not said with anger or disgust. If anything, it's hollow, perhaps even a little sad. ]
video;
[ The human race has done so much. Cars and airplanes and space ships and technology and science. They've accomplished a lot in their time on the Earth. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. ]
video;
[ The look he gives Chuck is almost gentle, save it's so unyieldingly firm. ]
Human do many neat things. They have more opportunity than anything I've seen before. And what do they chose to do with it? They do so much damage to one another. Cause so much harm. I wouldn't call that a species which is healthy.
Didn't you pay attention to what I said to Castiel and Dean?
[ When he declared God to be dead. ]
Think of recent human history.
