I don't know what's worse. Coming back here or what I came from.

[ It's not really the kind of thought you want to hear, or echo, but it's what she's wondering. It's what's on her mind, anyway.

It's late. She's been back for a few hours, and after getting back to her house and room she's tried to see (at least externally) what's changed. It doesn't look like a lot but: ]

I don't suppose that anything's changed around here? A mall opening, or a permanent door out? Or even less monsters.

[ Because it's easier to relax with people that also know what's going on. At least, she thinks so ]

Well, it's probably better in the long run because they'll get it. You can keep 'em longer that way. But, uh... You can probably guess the other side of that coin.

[ Which is that they're more likely to die. The truth is though that the only people in Dean's life who've hung around are people who are also in the life. Everyone else, he had to walk away from. ]

That they're likely to die too.

[ She knew that, it could have happened plenty of times already - especially to Scott with Allison's family being who they were ]

But that doesn't give me much of an out.

There is no out. Once you're in, you're in. You gotta learn how to adapt to the new setting. Like I said, find the good parts where you can find them. Might not be the same as they always were, but nothing's going to be the same anymore.

Then I may as well just not plan for anything.

[ Sorry, Dean, but she wanted to get out of Beacon Hills and get away from it. Not that she can, considering she is part of it. Yay, banshee ]

If it's not the same then what's the point? All of this will just keep on happening and stop everything else. There is nothing else.

You can't think about it like that. Look, there's going to be shit. Something terrible's going to happen, something new's attacking the town, attacking your friends. You deal with that shit. But it's not 24/7 combat. You get a few hours to eat dinner with your friends; you catch a nice sunset, you find moments of peace here and there. That's what you hold onto.
