Martha's 6th - Open Voice/Action - Day 110
Voice
Is everyone OK. Clinic made it through OK. If you need a doctor, let me know where you are. I'll be there as soon as I possibly can. Also, be careful of aftershocks.
Action
[Martha had been in the clinic when the earthquake came. Once she realized what actually was happening, she braced herself under a door frame until the shocks were over.]
[Once they were over, she put out the message about help and packed her medkit. She began making her way through the town, looking for those she could help.]

[Martha had been in the clinic when the earthquake came. Once she realized what actually was happening, she braced herself under a door frame until the shocks were over.]

no subject
Ellen Harvelle.
[She offers the other hand, after putting down the bottle.]
no subject
[Martha shakes the other woman's hand with a small smile.]
A man named Balthazar mentioned you by name when I sent out my universal transmission about opening the clinic again. And I believe I met your daughter.
[Provided there wasn't another woman running the bar.]
no subject
Balthazar would. Best anesthetic to be made around here. Might destroy your liver, but you'll never feel it.
[She cocks her head to the side.]
You on friendly terms with the feather brigade?
no subject
[Martha actually cracks a smile.]
I like that.
Well enough. One has offered help for the clinic, and one has given me valuable advice. As long as they don't exist in my home world, I guess I can handle them well enough.
no subject
[Ellen doesn't want to be on their bad side, but she's not going to expect them to be nice.]
I can give you something of a low-down on most of them, if you want. They're from back home. We have history.
no subject
Please do. They've been... proper since I've met them. I may have snapped at Samandriel. He caught me just as I arrived. I had come from a war zone. Wasn't exactly ready to hear about angels that keep out of most business. And the angels in my world are made of stone and send you back in time so they can feed off the potential life.
Anything you can tell me would be wonderful.
no subject
How much bible do you remember? Wrath of God, swords of God, end of days and all that? There's a reason Angels always started with "Fear not".
[She's probably getting ahead of herself.]
First thing: Angels can't possess you unless you grant permission. Demons will just step in and take over, but Angels can't. You start losing time, come to me and we'll see what can be done, because that bitch Meg wouldn't hesitate to screw with someone else.
Second thing: Angels are soldiers first. The ones I've dealt with appreciate respect but don't hesitate to call them on their high-handed bullshit. They're stuck here just like we are.
Third: Don't go asking for favors. If they offer, feel free to say yes or no, but don't go expecting anything from them.
Treat 'em with respect, maybe throw in a little awe now and again, and you should be alright with most of them. Except Gabriel. But he's a bigger dick than the rest of them.
no subject
[She listens carefully to what Ellen tells her. Possession just brings up more questions, and there's an eyebrow lift when Ellen mentions Meg. The bit about calling them out on their bullshit, she's already done that with one. The others she didn't know how to handle. And she's never asked for favors.]
Gabriel's one of them? I've just been giving him back as much shit as he's throwing at me. Raphael has been... proper. He offered me some help with the clinic. Balthazar mentioned your name and seemed glad I was helping out. I haven't seen Samandriel since I arrived.
[Martha covers her mouth as she fights off a yawn.]
And demons? I've met Meg over the communicators.
no subject
[She watches the yawn.]
Balthazar and I seem to be on friendly terms. He likes my moonshine.
[She snorts and nods toward the symbol in front of the door.]
Demons from hell, possess humans, do bad things. Meg's the resident demon here. That symbol is to make sure the bitch doesn't come in my bar again.
no subject
[She looks to the symbol by the door. It doesn't bode well.]
You two have a history then?
no subject
Back home, she killed Jo.
no subject
I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought it up.
[She wishes they had Time Lord symbols. In case The Master ever came back. Martha eyes it wistfully, wondering if she could bring the topic up with the Doctor. She doesn't notice the solitary tear that falls from her eye.]
no subject
Here, have a drink. If someone else needs you, they can call. Or Raphael can step up and be useful.
[She doesn't mind Raphael, but, this woman needs some downtime.]
no subject
Is it strong?
[Because drinking is the last thing she should be doing. Drinking while on duty would get her fired at home. And she won't be able to take proper care of people if she's drunk. And because she really, really wants that drink.]
no subject
Strong enough I made Balthazar and Castiel try it before I let humans have any.
[She nudges the drink toward Martha.]
No one is screaming about needing help, and it looks like we got off pretty light. Raphael knows how to heal, and there's more than a few of us that can do everything but surgery almost blind drunk and beaten to hell.
[Hunter training.]
no subject
Surgery beaten to hell I can do. Surgery while malnourished, running on no sleep, and with hardly any supplies, I can do. I've never tried it drunk.
Don't let me drink the next one so fast.
no subject
Don't worry. It'll only kill most of your liver. And it won't cause kidney damage according to the angels.
[Ellen sips her own.]
no subject
[Martha takes a sip of the second drink and lets her shoulders relax.]
no subject
[She's used to working with very little.]
no subject
[Martha smiled a bit. Dark smile, but it's there.]
Didn't mean make anything else. This is brilliant. Bloody brilliant. You won't fine hypervodka on Earth anyway. Not for many many years at least.
Feeding folks always comes first. That and fresh water.
no subject
[Ellen hates making soap. A lot. She will eat ashes before she likes making soap.]
Water shouldn't be too hard. Boil it, sure, but if we have to, we can set up something like the still to make clean water. Pain, but possible.
no subject
There are a lot of things I would prefer to be doing than making soap. Besides, alcohol pulls double duty when times get bad.
If this earthquake knocked out our water supply, I'm sure that would be useful.
no subject
[She just doesn't want to do it. Ever. She hates it.]
If it did, Jo and I will fix the still. Last batch was ruined anyway.
no subject
Did you guys ever deal with aliens too?
[She sounds weary and a little far away as she asks it.]
no subject
[Because that makes sense.]
