[ Guess who's back from the dead? That's right, everybody's favourite resident demon! Of course, she's lacking a little of her usual sass and sparkle - apparently being thrown to the wolves - quite literally (if by wolves we mean hellhounds) - has that effect on a person. ]

Hello Cape Kore. Did you miss me? [ There's a smirk, but it's strained. ]

Did you get the stray puppy population under control while I was on my unscheduled vacation or you all still waiting for the dog warden to show up?

Hm. Maybe the brawn need a little brains to point them in the right direction?

That's always the way, I find. We should find a wrecking ball and figure out the right direction to point it, I suppose.

I approve of this plan. And hey, if we don't find a way out, at least we'll have new spaces.

[Fortescue chuckles quietly, laying back on the bed.]

Let's just hope they don't actually have skeletons in the walls, hm?

[ Comfy there, Fortescue? ]

We could always build thrones of bones and declare ourselves Queens of this place if there are.

[She does, in fact, look very comfortable, stretching out her arms.]

You stick the bone throne. It'd be a good look for you. [She grins.] I'll make mine out of empty wine bottles.

In that case, we might have to drink more to ensure you have enough bottles. We couldn't have you sitting on an incomplete throne now, could we?

[Fortescue smiles.]

You have a point, darling. Too few bottles and it might just look like a rubbish pile. Queen of the Rubbish Pile is a far less impressive position.

You would, however, make the prettiest trash queen the place has ever seen.

[She flutters her eyelashes.]

You're too kind, really. [With a quiet laugh,] That's not very difficult, anyway. The other trash queens in this place are all rats.

And those rats got nothing on you, sugar.

[ Aw Fort. If she wasn't a demon, then Meg could very easily fall in love with you! ]

I'd be worried if they did. [But compliments are always nice. Very nice, even.] But you're right. I think more wine is definitely in order.

We could crack open the other bottle right now... If you've no plans to use your legs any more today.

[Fortescue wiggles her legs a little, looks at them, shrugs.]

Walking is overrated, love. I've no particular attachment to it.

I could always possess you and walk you back to your room if you need it. Or, you can crash here.

Either way... [ She opens the second bottle, because, why not? So much for saving it for a rainy day. ]

[She can always supply Meg with more later, when her legs are working again. That's the beauty of a fully stocked kitchen. Even if the 'stock' is sometimes rather strange.]

That would certainly be a unique service. [Fortescue chuckles.] In a place with enough drunks, you could probably charge for it.

[ Strange stock is better than no stock at all. As long as it's not laced with holy water then Meg is pretty game to try anything the kitchen has to throw at them. ]

A walk home service. Beats some jobs out there.

Flipping burgers, certainly. [She smiles.] Late hours, simple job, probably loads of repeat clients.

Shame I'm gonna die back home - could've made quite the career out of it.

[Fortescue's head cants, unconsciously, to the side.]

Everyone's going to die, darling. Or do you mean something more immediate?

You could say that. I arrived here - the second time - moments away from death. If what they say about this place dumping you right back where it took you from then soon as I get back, I'm dead any way.

I'm sorry to hear it. [She has a sip of wine. Well, more like a gulp, to avoid her feelings on where she'd be going on a return trip. Fortescue has a gut feeling it might not be any better.] I'd much rather stay in this place than go back home. Not without its problems, of course, but... the company's better here.

I'll drink to that!

[ And Meg refills any empty space in their glasses. Sorry Fort. ]

[Fortescue grins, slightly wider than usual, and has another sip of her now-full glass. Farewell, ability to walk properly. Hello, Meg's bed. Speaking of more wine, someone's now going to get a lot more rambly.]

I mean, people do get sent back and forth quite a bit, and sometimes it's a bit disheartening. Especially when you were just getting to know them. But most people, they need to go home. Things to do, friends to be with.

Yeah. It sucks when those people leave, but, I guess they're where they need to be.

[ Rambly, you say? Well, Meg is moving into emotionally opening up. It's a rare place for a demon to be. ]

This place will definitely suck more when the machine decides to send Cas home. And it will, one day, I know it. That dumb angel never could stay out of trouble long.
