[voliere]

[ Because she's still trying to get the hang of this thing (she much prefers to talk to people face to face if she's going to talk to them), Elizabeth's expression is determined and a little frustrated when she comes on the recording. It takes a moment - and then she figures out that she's recording and looks pleased with herself. ]

Hello. [ A pause, as she pulls the camera back away from her face. ] My name is Elizabeth. I've met a fair few of you, before. [ She speaks a little louder than she would normally, if only because she's so used to the distant and crackling way recordings generally sound in her time. ] I haven't been able to find a way out, like I promised, but what I can do is try to help in the best way that I can.

[ She has no idea how she's going to show this, since she has to use both hands to open the tears - so she doesn't quite yet. Instead, she begins to pace, walking slowly back and forth along the sand of the beach. ] Is there anything that the people here need? Supplies, maybe, such as bandages or ammunition. Or anything, really. I can bring it through.

I can't exactly promise that all of it will be in good condition, or that I'll find it at all, but I have to do something.

[stiling]

It's, uh- [ He gives a laugh, shrugs a shoulder with gusto. ] Nnnnnnot really spying if you're posting everything to a town-wide network. Yes, everything you see is public. Yes, that's kind of creepy in a Hitchcock kinda way.

[voliere]

[ Well, she didn't know that. She frowns. ] I'm not entirely sure how this thing works. I had never seen much like it at home, so I assumed it was like a telephone. Two-way.

[stiling]

Yeah, not exactly. Way more intrusive, but then again, that's the real charm of this place. I mean, you've gotta have noticed the cameras around.

[ He pauses a beat, wondering if she even gets that - ] Where- Or, actually, maybe I should say when are you from?

[voliere]

Oh, I have. [ That is the mother of all disgruntled faces. She can't change her clothes without covering the cameras, it's incredibly disturbing. The mention of the camera has her a little huffy. ]

I'm from 1912. Are you - and your Cheetos - from the future like Mr. Howard and Ned?

[stiling]

Yeah. Don't mess with 'em! Trust me. Ends badly.

[ Not that he knows from experience. ]

Wa-hoa. We're going old school here. [ He points to her. ] But bingo. I guess that makes me from your future. - Actually, a full hundred years from your time.

[voliere]

[ She takes that warning, keeps it carefully for later. The time difference will never not be strange to her, but - she's pretty sure she's at least seen futuristic times through her tears. Extensive reading on physics and space and time helps too. ]

So - 2012, then. [ She can't even imagine. ] Mr. Howard told me much of the future. It sounds wonderful, though I am a little surprised there are no hover-cars. It seems like something you would have, in a hundred year's time.

[stiling]

[ Stiles' arm waves emphatically, and, in perfect agreeance, he looks incredibly offended by the notion. ] Freaking right? Not a single flying car in sight. They promised. Not even a space odyssey.

Or a laser gun. Man, there should be laser guns.

[voliere]

[ She giggles a little. ] Laser guns? Is that something from a book?

[stiling]

And every movie with some variation of 'Star' in the title that you can think of.

[voliere]

I'd like for you to tell me all about the future, if you wouldn't mind. There's only so much I can glean from books - and I can offer you those... uh, Chee... tos, in exchange.

Would you come meet me somewhere?
