I've been here for fourteen days. I'm sure that a lot of you have been here for longer. I'm also certain that this might not matter with what's going on now but you might be surprised. I know that with what's going on I'd like to not think about it for at least a few hours. Right now I'd rather be shopping, or having lunch with my friend.

[ Even reading something, or being in school. Shocking, she knows ]

[She leans in, almost eagerly.] About twice what you've been. I think I'd rather be back at work; I was on my way to a gig when I was brought here.

What kind of gig?

I'm a magician. [Lazy jazzhands!]

That could be useful. [ She's just commenting, not asking. BUT FOR THE FUTURE ] What sort of magic?

I suppose it could. [By which she means that yes, yes it could. That's as detailed as she'll be about it, however.] I dabble in most kinds, aside from small scale. I'm the second fastest escape artist in the multiverse, next to Mister Miracle.

[ She would make a joke about how this is a slow escape, but she won't ]

I guess you're good then. [ Obviously ] What's your name?

I'd like to think so. [She seems almost taken aback, like she completely forgot about her own name. Vaguely embarrassed that she's been so rude:] Zatanna Zatara. I'll spare you the titles, as fun as it is to fire them off.

Someone might ask you for them one day. [ Maybe even Lydia, at least just one of them ] I'm Lydia.

Until then, I'll just avoid it and appreciate it not happening. [They aren't official. They're all super dorky, yet she's not embarrassed by any of them.] Hello, Lydia.

Right. [ She won't ask, then ] What do you do here? Not that there's much.

Talk to people on this thing? Garden? There's a library, but it's not really my sort -- not that there isn't still a good variety!

[ Oh, garden. Maybe you'll see Lydia around one of these days ] Well, if people were interested, which I doubt, a book club could at least be one thing to occupy us. [ And was slightly more recreational than hunting or gardening ]

I joined the garden club.

Oh, you never know! It might be difficult finding multiple copies of the same book. Of course, we could try to find shorter ones or perhaps poetry or short stories and read a few and swap then meet? [She really likes books, okay?]

I'm a member, myself.

[ Oh, cool. Maybe she could try that book club then. It would nicely pass time, at least ] I'll see what the library has. [ She'll come to you when she does ]

Ned asked for my advice. I know a few things about plants.

It's not like we have anything other than time, right? [It's weird not to have much in the way of responsibilities...]

It's why I joined. I've been growing plants since I was little. I mean, I might cheat sometimes but I generally do have a pretty green thumb. Chartreuse some days, even.

Exactly. It would be nice to actually fill it. [ And find something to fill it with Lydia will ]

Cheat how?

I have to wonder about the seasons here. That might be problematic if they've got a long winter... [But she's getting ahead of herself.]

With magic? I mean, bigger batches and lots of pesticides and forcing the growth to accelerate only sacrifices flavor and I generally prefer as organic and small as possible.

I didn't think here anyone would be able to be picky enough to want organic. [ When there isn't too much option, anyway ]

How does it work?

Well, understandably so in this situation. I'm not against it, but it's not my goal here when food in general is a worry.
