I've been here for fourteen days. I'm sure that a lot of you have been here for longer. I'm also certain that this might not matter with what's going on now but you might be surprised. I know that with what's going on I'd like to not think about it for at least a few hours. Right now I'd rather be shopping, or having lunch with my friend.

[ Even reading something, or being in school. Shocking, she knows ]

What would you rather do? Or what do you miss doing.

[ Maybe she's going somewhere with this ]

[Now that she's been given the opportunity to think about it? Leisure-time kind of seems like a far-off dream. The hunter lifestyle doesn't exactly come with a hell of a lot of downtime, and even before she'd started hunting, she'd spent most of her time working at the roadhouse, keeping the family business afloat.]

Kind of miss playing poker with the guys that used to come into the roadhouse. They were never very good.

[She misses their money, mostly.]

It made up for them being lousy tippers.

[ Finally, the first simple and maybe doable thing ]

Not that it makes up for it but that could be done here. [ Does anyone have cards? Or paper? ]

If we were really desperate, we could probably make cards, given we can find the materials for something. If my mom can put the bar back together, we can scrape together a deck of cards.

Promise, if we play, I won't take people for all they're worth this time around.

[Not that there's much in the way of currency here to begin with. It would be a pretty vain attempt if she bothered with it. Besides, there was a big difference between playing with fellow captives for fun and playing with the hunters who thought it was a great idea to underestimate her.]

Paper would probably make a pretty crappy substitute, but it could do. [ And pause. A small frown before a look of intrigue - or a sound of one ] Your mom has a bar?

Crappy, sure, but that's kind of the standard for most things here, isn't it?

[It is. You know it is.]

Yep. Working on it, anyway. She got the still up and running a couple of weeks ago, so that's some pretty decent progress. The whole place'll be up and running eventually.

Sadly. At least it can be done. I'm still trying to work out bowling. [ Because that was an idea she was given a while ago ]

I wouldn't have thought that was needed.

It might not be the most necessary thing in the world, but that diner project has been going on awhile, and just like the diner, this bar was sitting around unused. So mom did what she knows best. The roadhouse we ran back home was more than just that, though.

[She smirks a little; it's a matter of pride, really.]

The place was damn near a fortress, stacked from top to bottom with everything we needed to protect ourselves from all the stuff that goes bump in the night out there. The new bar will be just the same. Reinforced and set up to be a damn good safehouse.

[ There's a thoughtful hum ] What does it take to get into this fortress? [ Because Lydia would like to be protected and safe yes ]

It'll keep ghosts and demons out, that's for damn sure. Just about anything else, too. Anything that does get in, we'll be ready for 'em.

Good. What about getting protected? Is it open to guests?

Sure. It's open to friends, at any rate. You looking to get invited?

That would be the best case scenario, yeah. If your luck turns bad, though -- you have a place.
