[Well hello! Have a Doctor sitting back in a chair, leaning on the back legs with worn converse on the table propping him back.]

Has it ever occurred you lot have strange dreams? One with crystal castles and blurred figures roaming about? I'm all for symbolism, but I think I've worn my welcome on that front. Dreams aren't my specialty.

[There's a sharp inhale as he looks away briefly, rubbing at a closed eyelid.]

I don't suppose there's a policy of how to return and offer an apology, is there? How about, let's not form a queue outside my door and try to set up an inquisition. I'd much rather share this over a cuppa.

Right then, has anyone seen Sharon?

[Her room looked lived-in, but there weren't any signs of her being around the house. And yet there was an unfamiliar feeling coming from the other spare room, but no one was there during his initial investigation. This was enough to flare up one of his lingering headaches, a hold-over he wasn't quite able to shake off from stabilizing his broken mind. But that will be dealt with later.]

[He's not among them. He wasn't happy that Balthazar's eyesight had been damaged, but he's over it. Everyone makes mistakes, and he's pretty sure no permanent damage was done. That doesn't mean he'll play nice, though.]

Mina said no one died, so that's at least a relief... And trust me, the scientists or whoever has us here did enough to punish me to learn my lesson.

If you're lucky, they'll try to sneak it in in a bottle marked with a skull and crossbones. General rule of thumb? That's not a bottle you want to drink out of.

[He shrugs, trying to maintain a semi-innocent expression. Anyone believing in Gabriel's sincerity out to consider being a little less gullible, but hopefully the Doctor's sensible enough to take everything he says with a pinch of salt.]

And - heh, yeah, I noticed. The hair's a dead giveaway. Electrocution, huh?

That actually might have been a better punishment than what actually happened, yeah. I'll keep a card with suggestions and and maybe they'll pick from that.

It depends on the dream. I've seen the blurred figures and crystal castles you're talking about, yeah, but there've been other dreams, too.

Mmm...As I recall, the Inquisition mostly went after innocent people who happened to own land or wealth the church and crown wanted. You, on the other hand, actually have made some unfortunate mistakes. [It's a fairly mild tone he uses, but he's watching the Doctor closely, trying to decide how far to push his point.]

Are you actually going to apologize, or were you hoping this would be enough? Just to be on the same page, you understand.

I do apologize, and I know nothing I can say will be sufficient enough, either. Mina said no one died, and that's a great relief, but the failure of it all... I regret it. Whatever or whoever we've tangled with is very strong, very very powerful. I've never met anyone like this before, and it concerns me.

...And I haven't exactly gone unpunished either. I can't explain to you what they did to me during my absence, but it was more than enough to make me learn my place.

[At least for a long, long while.]

That's true, no one died, and I don't think there's been any lasting damage. At least, nothing lasting that can be specifically blamed on that little escapade.

[Sure, there have been some disappearances recently, but that's pretty much par for the course. As for his own injury, it's gone already.]

I was afraid that would be the case. That you'd be punished, I mean. I don't need the gory details, truly. If you say you've learned your lesson, I'm content to leave it there. [He'll have his eye on you, though, Doctor.]

...I can't promise everyone else will feel the same, of course.

[ He hadn't been directly affected by the Doctor's plan, no. But he'd been angry at the way he left River, at how her thoughts had turned against her and left her feeling such pain like he'd never felt himself before. He'd tried to help her as best he can.

But he's not a man used to holding a grudge and there are some things - the desire to escape - that mean you cannot simply see all the variables. ] If you don't mind me asking - what happened when you were gone? Did you manage to leave or were you caught? [ Being blunt seems neccessary right now. ]

They took me.

[Did that actually count as leaving? The Doctor wasn't so sure.]

And punished me for what I had done. [They broke his mind, strung his time line all over to the point the Doctor couldn't tell when he first learned to tie a shoe from being in the Time War. They had been searching for something, no doubt, but there wasn't an attempt to try to be contentious to how it might affect him. He was left broken and returned here broken.]

There are a lot of strange dreams out there. Most people just don't remember them. [They're usually the most strange. The mind is a wonderful and mysterious thing!]

I tend to agree, though there's something quite off with these. I don't dream, or I tend to only on rare occasions, and each of these dreams I've had, I see people from here. They started off silly and frivolous, but the last couple have some sort of significance I can't place.

[There's a sigh.]

I think Sharon's gone. She's blonde, thin, carries a gun...

Well, the whole being shared thing is definitely being "off," I'd say. At least for normal people. Most people can't control their dreams, retain the information, share them, or broadcast them. That goes for the majority of the multiverse and humanoid creatures within it. So, all I have to say? We're being screwed with.

[She understands loss all too well.]

Hopefully those aren't as common here as they are in my world, but I'll keep my eye out. You never know!
