[It's kind of a hunter thing. At least, Jo is pretty sure it's a hunter thing.]

[ Sam cuts the feed and heads off to the kitchen to find some semi-decent alcohol. Luckily the kitchen is being co-operative and he manages to find a bottle of scotch.

He grabs a couple of glasses and moves into the dining hall to wait for Jo. ]

[Jo shows up a few minutes later, looking a little less confused than she did the first time she was in the dining room.]

Hey, Sam. [She settles in opposite him and gives him a smile.] What did you find for us?

[ He holds up the bottle, giving it a wiggle. ]

A bottle of the good stuff. None of the weird glowing alien crap either.

[ With a half smile, he opens the bottle and pours them each a glass. ]

That's one of the prettiest things I've seen since I got here. [The bottle, of course. Not Sam.]

Thanks. [She doesn't wait for him to start drinking, only reaches out to take the first sip with a content sigh.]

[ Well that's just rude, Jo! Sam is way prettier than the bottle - okay, maybe not. He's definitely not looking his best, that much is for sure.

He takes his glass and downs the contents in one, hissing as the contents of the glass hit his throat. Maybe he should've grabbed two bottles... ]

So... How're you settling into this place?

[Even if she can admit that Sam is pretty handsome, he's not really her type. Kind of.]

I feel like I'm settling in as well as I can. It's another place I can't get out of. [She shrugs to match the sarcasm of that last statement.]

On the plus side, it's a place we can't get out of that has decent alcohol and mostly decent food.

... Decent company too. [ Even if half the decent company is supposed to be dead... ]

Food that can sometimes turn ya blue, or other things. [Which isn't very encouraging. She kind of worries about that.]

Are you talking about me or other people, Sam?

It's not so bad if you stick to the foods you recognize - they just tend not to restock as fast as the other stuff. You can always grab a bunch of the good stuff and store it in your room or the small kitchenettes if you're in one of the suites.

[ Sam just happens to be in a suite with Dean, Cas and Meg. Good times. ]

And present company is included in my previous statement.

[ It could be worse! And he tries not to think about what the three of them probably get up to. He doesn't want the mental images.

Have you run into Meg yet? [ You know, since she killed you and all... ]

[Sam can move in with Jo. Her suite seems to be empty.]

She was the first one I talked to.

[ Careful Jo. He might take you up on that. ]

Ah. She didn't cause too much trouble, I hope? [ Well, any more trouble than usual. ]

Uh... I guess she probably told you about her and Dean then, right? [ Sam, be careful with those over-sized feet of yours. ]

[He wouldn't be a horrible roommate. Right?]

It wasn't a nice conversation. [She still wants to hit the demon, at least.]

She told me they were friends. [Jo's gotta be honest. It sounds like Sam is talking about more than that.]

[ Course not! He'd spend most of his time watching stuff on his laptop or in the library reading books.

Such a well behaved, house trained and quiet moose. ]

Friends? [ Shut up, Sam. Don't say any more! ] Right, yeah. She helped us out of a few tight spots.

What does that "right, yeah" mean?

Well, it's just... I wouldn't say 'friends' exactly.

[ Nice save, Sam. Now just say 'acquaintances' and be done with it... Sam! Damn it, Sam! ]

[A moment of stunned silence follows that statement before Jo takes a drink and shakes her head.]

Now wait. I must be drunk already. They're what?

[ Well done, Sam! Open mouth, insert over-sized foot. ]

Well, not so much friends with benefits, more like fuck buddies...

[ Not making things any better, Sam. Just keep drinking and stop talking. ]

[Wow. She makes a choked sound and sighs.]

Like that's any better. Did you have anything else to say or can I take the scotch and lock myself in my room for a few days?

[ He downs another glass of scotch. Please don't go, Jo! He needs a friend! ]

I learned Dean's dead back home. [ It comes out quicker and slightly more frantic than he intends. But he's been sitting on this knowledge since Cas told him, not quite sure what to do with it. ]

...When? [Because that seems the most important question.]

When did he die or when did I find out? Cas told me when he came back. From what I can make out he's not too far ahead of me.
