[Ellen doesn't look real happy. She's not, but normally she's a bit better at hiding it.]

New batch is out of the still but it's weaker than the last one. If anyone wants a bottle, stop by and pick it up.

[She sips water out of a glass. She's got other things to say.]

We're going to need things to run through the still. Rice, oats, cornmeal, frozen fruit, anything that can be run through the still.

If you find anything in the forest, dandelions can be used to make wine, too.

[She almost turns it off, but stops for a second.]

Also, got a haunch of venison, if anyone's willin' to trade for it.

[ Meg is tired of being treated like a second rate citizen. And she's done with having to play nice and avoid the bar in order to keep everyone happy. She offered an olive branch - not her fault if Ellen is too stubborn to accept it.

She gets it. Ellen is still bitter about the teeny tiny role Meg may or may not've played in Jo's death. But really, it's not like she murdered Military Barbie herself. It's not Caleb or Pastor Jim. Those she killed. Jo, well, Jo was more a victim of circumstance. She got in a hellhound's way! What did they all think would happen?

But whatever. This isn't the Harvelle Roadhouse, it's everyone's bar and if Ellen doesn't like it well tough. Meg needs a drink.

She pushes the door open and walks straight into a devil's trap. She should've seen that one coming. ]

You wanna let me out of this thing, Sugar?

[Ellen is sitting at the bar, her fingers moving deftly as she fixes a rip in a shirt pocket. She looks back, looks down at the devil's trap, then back up at the woman stuck in it. Then she turns right back to her mending.]

Should've watched your step. You want something?

A drink. This is a bar. And last time I checked the Cape didn't have a 'no demons allowed' policy.

So, you wanna let me out or do I have to break your pretty little floor?

[She's nice. And she's scoped out where everyone is staying.]

Sure, enable our host of alcoholics and their awful drinking habits. That can't possibly go wrong in a sweet, harmless little town like ours. And hey, while we're at it, I'll go poke around in the woods and see if I can't find us some hallucingenic wildlife. Or failing that, some angry robobears - wonder if they're any less threatening with beer goggles?

[A longish pause, so that it almost looks like that's going to bt the end of the message, and then:]

Bottles of what? I don't like whiskey.

[She believes in the medicinal power of alcohol.]

[He waggles his eyebrows meaningfully, but then makes a face.]

Anything that strong's usually icky. At least you can mix vodka with soda or juice and not have it taste like surgical spirit.

[Fortescue clicks on her feed, smiling a little. If they're down to bartering, as Lord Buttercup had implied, she figures she should get on it. Jazz is in her lap, purring contentedly.]

What would you like for your venison? I have a few fairly large fish that I could offer you.

I haven't had a chance to get dandelions yet, but I'll have a look tomorrow. Are there any other flowers that would work? I know there's chicory around, probably honeysuckle.

[Mercifully oblivious to the fact that Ellen's made holy water liquor, Balthazar is just interested in helping out.]

Honeysuckle might, with the dandelions. Berries would be better. Fruit. Might be too early for that, though.

[She ponders for a minute.]

Potatoes. If you can find any that can be used, I can make Poitín, or a crappy vodka.

Mix of oats and cornmeal that we found. Next batch'll be made out of rice. Doubt we're going to have any batches after that, if we don't find some supplies.
